A BRAND new state of the art golf venue is coming to Glasgow.
Topgolf Entertainment Group announced plans today for the first venue of its kind in Scotland, with construction already underway.
Located just off the M74 near Rutherglen, Topgolf is expected to create more than 300 jobs.
Topgolf Vice President Steve Lane said: “The U.K. holds a special place in our hearts as it’s where our Topgolf story began. It seems very apt that the next leg of our journey takes us to Scotland, the original home of golf.
“The Glasgow venue will be like nothing the country has ever seen. We’re thrilled to kick-off this development together with our partners at Ashfield and introduce a venue where friends and families can safely play together and share experiences.”
Topgolf was founded in 2000 by two brothers who wished to make a driving range more exciting and dynamic, and now over 20 years later they operate 70 entertainment venues in six countries.
Property developer Ashfield Land are collaborating with Topgolf in creating the Two 74 site, which is part of the regeneration programme Clyde Gateway.
Once completed, the three-storey site will have 72 climate-controlled outdoor hitting bays, point-scoring games, food and drink, music and over 100 HD televisions.
The venue will also feature year-round programming for all ages, and private event rooms are available for meetings and events.
Steven McGarva, Development Director at Ashfield Land, said: “We’re proud to be working with Topgolf to deliver its first attraction in Scotland, the home of golf, here at our Two 74 Glasgow development.
"The unique attraction is really starting to take shape and we’re pleased with how construction is progressing.
"The new Topgolf will create approximately 300 new jobs and we look forward to it opening to the people of Glasgow later this year. I’m sure it’ll be a huge success.”
The developers are aiming to open the site in late 2022. For more information about Topgolf Glasgow, visit their WEBSITE.
