A CONCERNED man is worried that his missing elderly uncle may have travelled to Glasgow.
James Brannan, 72, was last seen on Saturday February 5 near Spey Valley Golf Club in Aviemore, and searches are ongoing in the area.
Now James' nephew Andy Calder is concerned that James, who struggles with confusion, has tried to make his way to Glasgow as he has links to the city.
Andy said: "My uncle hasn't been too well over the years and can become confused so it is a worry that he has been gone for so long.
"The hope was that he has got on a train or bus to Glasgow, where he was originally from but nobody in our family has heard from him.
"This was the Baillieston area of Glasgow he had links to. It is possible if he has found someone he is not able to explain himself very well."
A searched was launched on February 8 involving specialist police officers, partners from HM Coastguard, the Cairngorm and RAF mountain rescue teams and personnel from Glenmore Lodge, the Scottish National Outdoor Training Centre.
James is believed to have been wearing blue jeans, a dark winter jacket and walking boots.
He is described as being around 5ft 10in tall and of thin build with medium-length grey hair and a grey beard.
Andy said: "The weather in Aviemore has been cold and snowing so this once again is a worry. The area he was last seen isn't very busy either, not a lot of through traffic so not many people will have likely seen him.
"He is very well known in the area so people will recognise him, so again, unusual nobody has seen anything of him since Saturday afternoon."
Andy added that officers have been checking James' phone but it is now out of power so it cannot be used to pinpoint where he could be.
Officers are becoming increasingly worried as the search continues.
Chief Inspector Jen Valentine said: “We remain extremely concerned for James’s welfare and we are keeping his family fully informed as we progress with enquiries.
“We are grateful to our partners for their assistance with searches and the local community in Aviemore for their assistance.
“I know local people share our concern for James and I would continue to urge anyone who thinks they may have seen him at any time since last Saturday afternoon to get in touch as soon as possible.
“Any information, no matter how small you feel it might be, may be of use.
“Given the recent weather I would also urge anyone who lives locally and has a shed or outbuilding where someone could seek shelter to check this and report anything out of the ordinary to us.
“Anyone who has information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact 101, quoting reference number 1601 of February 8.”
