TWO SUSPECTS appeared at court today accused of murdering a man.
Maria Gardner, 45, and James Houston, 33, allegedly assaulted Brian Maley, 52, at his flat in Glasgow’s Springburn on February 8 this year.
Court papers state the pair repeatedly struck him on the head and body with a knife or similar instrument.
It is alleged that they also struck him with a number of blunt and sharp instruments to the head and body.
It is claimed this was done to Mr Maley’s severe injury, danger of life and his murder.
Mr Maley’s body was found by emergency services at 9.50am on February 8.
Gardner and Houston face a separate allegation of attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
The charge states that they attempted to dispose of items and clothing worn as well as the weapons used during the assault.
They then allegedly concealed their presence from police investigating the crime by staying at a Premier Inn in the city’s Charing Cross.
The pair made no plea at a private hearing in Glasgow Sheriff Court.
They were remanded in custody pending further examination by sheriff Tom Hughes.
Gardner, of the city’s Garthamlock and Houston of Broomhill, were remanded in custody meantime.
