GLASGOW will be affected by high winds today, as the centre of Storm Franklin approaches Scotland

The Met Office issued a yellow warning for wind for Monday, February 21, which will remain in place until 1pm.

Although the warning narrowly misses the city - covering parts of the West Coast of Scotland and Dumfries and Galloway -, the weather service is advising the whole country to stay vigilant.

It tweeted: "The centre of Storm Franklin is currently moving across Scotland.

"Spells of rain, hail, sleet and snow across the north of the UK. Heavy showers in the south. Very windy for all.

"Stay #WeatherAware."

Meteorologists are forecasting gusts of wind up to 32mph around 11am.

Conditions are set to improve in the afternoon, with sunny spells and milder temperatures.

However, heavy rain is expected for later tonight, and heavy wind is predicted once again for Tuesday, with gusts up to 42mph.
