MITCHELLS FUNERAL SERVICES
With professionalism and compassion, Mitchells provide peace of mind to families at a time they need it most, writes Carla Fox
THE loss of a loved one is something we will all face. It’s the most stressful time in our lives and a mo ment when we don’t need any further worries.
We all want to give those we love a beautiful service that is centred around them, but now, perhaps more than ever, the potential cost of that can be another source of potential distress.
That’s why the family-run Mitchells Funeral Services has put in place a number of packages.
These range from the simplest cremation at £800 to a complete burial service at £2800.
The packages allow families to see at a glance what is included and the final cost.
The costs also include crematorium and cemetery fees. All with no deposit.
Based in Rutherglen but working all across the Central Belt, Funeral Director Liam Mitchell believes that in times of uncertainty they can ease some of the burden by providing that transparent service.
There’s no need to get to Rutherglen to meet either. Liam knows that M8 well, through travelling across the centre of the country to meet with families and make the arrangements face-to-face. It’s all included in the service.
“It’s been a tough couple of years for people,” says Mitchell. “We’re just coming out of Covid and now there’s an increased cost of living with the cost of fuel and energy going up.
“If someone then has a funeral to organise then they can have so much more added stress.
“Not everyone has been able to plan ahead for the eventuality, so having a range of fixed price plans makes that part of bereavement a little easier for them.”
Mitchells also works with Social Security Scotland for people who are need of the Funeral Support Payment that those on low income benefits might be eligible for.
Of course funeral arranging is not just about the cost, it’s being guided through a difficult times by a safe pair of hands to make sure all arrangements for the day will go smoothly and provide a service that is centred around the person who has gone.
The family can also choose the crematorium or cemetery, along with their preferred date and time.
There are extras to personalise every service, from vintage hearses to a piper, all clearly priced on the Mitchells website. Some of the packages also include a sum towards extras.
Liam points out that the highly competitive price of the packages offers the same standard as families would receive from any other funeral services provider.
“I always suggest families to read our reviews. As some families need reassurance that even if they choose one of the less expensive packages, the service will be the same. A traditional hearse is used for all our services including our cheaper funeral option.”
When you call you’ll talk with Liam’s mum Irene, who takes all the first calls. His dad Mike is the funeral operative. Together the family works to provide that vital personal service that independent family-run funeral directors offer best.”
Liam will see families through the full service, from the initial family visit and arrangements to the actual funeral service on the day. “We are 100% family owned and run,” adds Liam, “and we work together to provide the same professional service that we would want for our own loved ones.”
