SAM Heughan has said he 'knows how Outlander will end' as he teased fans on the upcoming season.

The Scots star, 41, added he can 'absolutely see the show without me', admitting that the focus has started to shift to other characters in the new chapter of the series.

Speaking to The Times, the Balmaclellan actor also hinted at the next season following Outlander's top cast in 'other parts of time'.

Heughan, who just wrapped up filming in New Zealand for the second series of road trip show Men In Kilts, said: "I know how it ends, Diana Gabaldon has told me, but we still have a long way to go before we get to that.

"Diana has so many other books, like the Lord John series, and she’s writing a prequel to Outlander about Jamie’s parents.

"So I can absolutely see Outlander without me."

He added: “Diana has this whole world in her head, and how she ties up all those loose ends I have no idea.

“This season we do start to pull on more of what’s going on in, dare I say, other parts of time.

"We’re really starting to see these other stories, a lot of the other characters have their own storylines.

"This season, and definitely next season, we are going to see a lot more of that coming into play.”

The sixth series of Outlander, set during the lead-up to the American War of Independence in the 18th Century, is coming to Starzplay and Amazon Prime on March 6.
