A MAN was arrested after he allegedly failed to stop for a routine check on a busy Glasgow motorway.
Road Policing Officers claimed they tried to halt the driver of a BMW 4 Series on the M8 motorway, near junction 25 last night.
It is claimed a chase took place when the driver refused to stop and a police helicopter pursued the motorist.
Witnesses allegedly heard the helicopter hovering above the city's West End just after 7pm.
Police Scotland has confirmed that a 22-year-old man was arrested and charged in relation to a number of offences.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 7pm on Sunday, 27 February, Road Policing officers on a routine patrol attempted to stop of BMW 4 Series on the M8 near junction 25.
"The driver failed to stop and a pursuit took place, ending near to Balshagray Avenue, where the driver was arrested.
"We can confirm that a 22-year-old man has been charged in relation to a number of offences and is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court at a later date."
