A JEALOUS woman who brutally attacked her lover at her home after an argument over smoking was jailed for more than 23 months.

Yvonne Doris, 41, turned on the woman at the flat in Glasgow's Dennistoun on August 17, 2020.

Doris lit a cigarette in the bedroom and was asked to take it into the kitchen as it would ruin her house.

Doris replied: "I'll show you the house getting ruined" before throwing items in the room.

She then turned her attention to the woman who sitting on the ground and stamped on her head and body.

Doris pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the assault to her injury yesterday.

She also admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner as well as three breaches of bail.

Sheriff Paul Crozier sentenced Doris for a total of 23 months and 21 days.

The court earlier heard the pair were in a relationship for around 18 months.

A drunk Doris was let into the flat by the woman before pair went into her bedroom.

Prosecutor Carrie Stevens said: "Doris lit a cigarette and the woman asked her to go through to the kitchen if she wanted to smoke.

"Doris started shouting and swearing at her, accusing her of having relationships with other people.

"The woman advised Doris that this was not the case and hat she didn't want her housed ruined by her smoking indoors.

"Doris replied: 'I'll show you the house getting ruined'."

Doris threw items around the room before grabbing the woman's t-shirt by the neck and jerked her forward.

She was asked to leave but continued her behaviour.

Doris smashed a mobile phone and threw a television to the floor causing a part of it to strike the woman's ankle.

Ms Stevens added: "As she was on the ground in pain, Doris stamped on her body and head."

The injured and cut victim later managed to crawl to a neighbour's flat for safety.

Doris was heard shouting: "I'm going to f***ing kill her, she's been seeing other women."

The woman was taken to hospital for treatment for cuts to her ankle, foot and forehead.

She also sustained swelling to her finger as well as bruising to her face, a burst lip and two cracked teeth.

Doris was traced to her home meantime where she was arrested and later released on bail.

The court heard Doris also repeatedly breached her conditions by calling the woman.
