SCOTT BROWN is locked in talks with Aberdeen about terminating his contract and reports have suggested that he could be set to hang up his playing boots.
We told yesterday how former Celtic and Scotland captain Brown is considering an exit from Pittodrie after Stephen Glass' sacking.
The 36-year-old moved to the Dons from Celtic last summer and was an important part of Glass' coaching team before the manager was relieved of his duties last month.
The Daily Record now report that Brown is set to retire from playing as he explores further options as a coach.
St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin was named as Glass' successor and the Irishman dropped Brown from the matchday squad for Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Ibrox - sparking rumours of a fall-out between the pair.
There is yet to be any confirmation from the Pittodrie club who are gearing up for a Premiership clash against Hibs in two weeks time.
