A MAN told a cop he “desperately needed a barber” whilst being removed from a flat party in Wyndford.
Darren Sheppard was due to appear in Glasgow Sheriff Court after making several cheeky comments to officers who turned up to the Wyndford Road property on July 11, 2020.
But the 27-year-old could not attend the hearing after testing positive for Covid-19. His lawyer asked Sheriff Jonathan Guy to proceed in his absence.
The prosecutor explained: “At 5pm police were at 76 Wyndford Road in regard to an ongoing noise complaint.
“Whilst dispersing people from the property due to excessive noise, the accused approached police in the foyer and stated the officers in attendance were ‘f*****g morons’ and they were harassing him.
“He further stated ‘polis will always be c***s in my eyes. Gimps.’ He then stated to one officer ‘look the state of you, what the f**k is your haircut actually about, desperately needing a barber mate’.”
Sheppard was asked to calm down by the officers. However, he stared and said, “nae bother ya f*****g d**k. Think am scared ae yous? You should be scared ae me”.
Officers then advised him he was under arrest, cautioned and charged him, and he replied, “the court will do f**k all, the worst I’ve had is bail’”.
The court heard Sheppard was on bail at the time of the offence.
A previous sheriff deferred the sentencing hearing for Sheppard to be of good behaviour.
His lawyer said: “I ask you to note the date of the offence and that alcohol had been taken. For his cheek, he was taken to the police station overnight and was released for report the following day.
“You’ll see his record, it’s not the best of course. The case was previously deferred as he had just been released from a prison sentence for another matter. It was imposed to demonstrate he could be of good behaviour.”
Sheriff Jonathan Guy said: “He’s demonstrated he’s been of good behaviour; I’m going to admonish and dismiss him.”
