THE family of a teenager who tragically died after getting into difficulty in water say “it would mean the world” to them if Rangers fans honoured the 18-year-old.

Jordan Goodwin, from Hamilton, passed away at Mugdock Country Park on Saturday, March 19. His body was recovered from the water at the Milngavie loch shortly after 6pm.

His family are now appealing for Ranger’s supporters to take part in a minute’s applause on the 18th minute during Sunday's Old Firm match, as a tribute for the teen.

Jordan’s cousin, Thomas Millan from Barrhead, said: “He was a big Rangers fan like the rest of us.

“It would mean a lot to all of us if it happened. I put a post on Facebook and more than 1200 people have shared it so we’re hoping now that a lot of people have seen it, that it will happen.

“I’ve contacted Rangers too to see if they will put a photo of him up during the 18th minute, but they’ve not got back to me as of yet.”

Thomas, who described his cousin as “full of carry on” and “just so kind”, said the incident was “tragic”.

He added: “Jordan would do anything for anyone. It’s just so heartbreaking for us all. It was so unexpected.”

In Thomas’ Facebook post, he wrote: “As most of you know, my wee cousin Jordan died at the age of 18 when he tragically drowned at Mugdock Country Park. As most of his family and friends know, he was a Rangers fan.

“His family are asking if on the 18th minute at Ibrox on Sunday against Celtic if all support can give him a minutes applause in his honour, it would make all of his family and friends happy if we can do it.

“Can we please share this so word gets about please, folks? Thanks very much.”

The dedicated family also held a balloon release on Monday at St Peter’s Primary in Hamilton. Thomas said the turnout was great.

A prize bingo night was also held to help raise funds to go towards Jordan’s funeral and to give him a memorable send-off.
