Today is the day to sent your meter reading to your gas and electric supplier to make sure bills are correct before the price hike hits.
Citizens Advice Scotland (CAS) is encouraging people to submit a meter reading to their energy supplier today to ensure their information is up to date and they are charged the proper rate.
The energy price cap is set to increase by £693m tomorrow,, Friday April 1, so today is the last chance people have to ensure they are being charged properly before the new higher rates kick in.

Michael O’Brien, CAS Energy spokesperson, said:“With energy bills set to soar on Friday people should be submitting a meter reading to their supplier today to ensure they are being charged properly for energy they have used on the lower rates.
“The coming weeks and months are going to be a real challenge for people and every little helps. 
“If people are struggling they can always seek advice.

“The Scottish CAB network is here for people during this cost of living crisis, with free, impartial and confidential advice. 
“Last year we unlocked £147 million for people and can help you unlock extra money you may be entitled to.”
Ofgem raised the cap at which bills are limited to  from £1277 to £1971 from April until October when it will be reviewed.
It means an average increase of 54% on dual fuel energy bills.
It has been predicted that people will be expected to pay even more as it could be increased further as the price of wholesale gas is continuing to increase.
The rising cost put dozens of smaller suppliers out of business.
