A MAN stomped on another man's head during an unprovoked attack at a Glasgow soup kitchen.
Kristopher McLees was one of three people who launched an assault on victim William Graham at the service under the Heilanman's Umbrella.
Glasgow Sheriff Court was told how, on May 25 last year around 8.50pm, Mr Graham and McLees were both at the soup kitchen, as were another man and a woman.
The woman was engaged in a heated conversation with Mr Graham when she began punching him on his head, hitting him several times and causing him to fall to the ground.
The other man was watching this unfold and stepped in, also attacking him and knocking him back to the ground when he stood up.
The woman continued punching him as he lay on the pavement.
At this point McLees, of Summerston, intervened and then carried what the court heard was an unprovoked attack on Mr Graham, tripping him up and causing him to fall again.
McLees, 35, then stomped on Mr Graham's head several times before walking away.
Mr Graham got up but McLees returned and continued punching him to the head.
The brawl was caught on CCTV and camera operators contacted police, who arrived at the scene and found McLees on Hope Street while his co-accused was found on Wellington Street.
Mr Graham was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he was treated for cuts to his face.
McLees's defence brief told the court there had been an earlier incident between some of the parties and his clients was responding to that.
Sheriff Jonathan Guy said he wished to view the CCTV footage of the incident, which required deferring sentencing.
The case will call again on April 29.
