A JOGGER was sexually assaulted whilst running past a stranger in the street.
Daniel Lambert touched the victim’s breasts on June 3, 2021, near the entrance to High Street train station in Glasgow.
The 36-year-old appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing.
He was also charged with failing to appear in court on July 20, 2021.
The prosecutor said: “Three women met at Alexandra Park in order to go out for a jog. At 11am, and on reaching the entrance to High Street train station, the accused was standing near the bus shelter, which is situated next to the train station entrance.
“He began shouting at the women and walked in the pathway where they were jogging. The women moved out of the direction of the accused.
“He walked onto the pathway of one of the women and pushed his hand onto her breasts as she ran past.
“Due to being alarmed by this, the complainer turned to the other two women and stated ‘that guy just grabbed my boobs’.
“They stopped jogging and turned to the accused and stated, ‘you can’t do that’.”
The court heard that cops, who happened to be on patrol on the opposite side of the road, witnessed Lambert with his outstretched hand touching the woman’s breasts.
They then spotted the women shouting over at him, and Lambert standing with his hands out laughing at them.
The prosecutor added: “One of the women thereafter shouted to get the attention of the police officers stating that the accused had grabbed one of their breasts as they were running past.
“The officers crossed the road in order to speak with the accused and obtain further information from the women. The accused was arrested and cautioned and charged. He made no reply and was taken to Cathcart police station.”
Lambert’s lawyer explained that a criminal justice social work report had been prepared, but without the social workers hearing the full circumstances.
A recording of the fiscal depute’s narration was taken.
Sheriff Mark McGuire told Lambert: “The social work report was prepared without having had sight of the narrative. That shouldn’t have happened.
“The terms in this report are not something I can take account of. The recording of the narrative will be sent to the social work department, and they will prepare a new report.
“I will retain the responsibility for this case.”
Sentencing was deferred for the updated report.
Lambert, of Glasgow city centre, will return to court in May.
