A GIRL was reportedly raped in Johnstone at the weekend.
Police say they have arrested a male youth in connection with the alleged incident but would not provide details of their ages.
Officers were alerted at 10.20pm on Saturday night.
The sexual assault reportedly took place on a farm road, near Napier Street, in Johnstone.
A public footbridge and path were still taped off by officers yesterday.
Forensics were also spotted at the scene as police urged anyone with information to call 101.
A force spokesperson said: “Around 10.20pm on Saturday, April 30, officers were called to a report of a male youth having seriously sexually assaulted a female youth on a farm road near to Napier Street in Johnstone.
"A male youth has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.
"Anybody with any information should contact police via 101 quoting incident number 3803 of Saturday, April 30, 2022.”
