ENGINEERING works on a railway line linking Glasgow Central to London Euston took place over the bank holiday weekend.
Engineers worked round-the-clock to renew tracks on the West Coast main line, including at Carstairs, Beattock and Symington South.
As part of the works, which finished on schedule, structural improvements also took place at Cathcart Road in Glasgow.
Liam Sumpter, Network Rail route director for Scotland, said ahead of the works: “The improvement works planned for the May bank holiday are crucial to improving the reliability of Scotland’s railway.
“The work will help to provide a more modern railway while limiting future disruption for passengers.”
