A force spokesperson said: “Around 2.25pm on Wednesday, May 4, a report was made to police regarding a drone seen in the Inchinnan area near Glasgow Airport.
"Enquiries are ongoing.”
A passenger on the Emirates aircraft told the Glasgow Times about the delay.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Glasgow Airport confirmed the runway operation was "paused" due to the sighting of the drone.
They added: “This was investigated by both our airfield teams and Police Scotland colleagues.
“No further action was required and operations were resumed in less than 10 minutes.”
In Scotland, it is illegal to fly a drone within restricted zones and operators may be subject to prosecution.
There is a 5km restriction zone around Glasgow Airport as the use of drones near an airfield could endanger aircraft operations.
