AN ALDI customer took part in a fun supermarket sweep and raised £250 for a local foodbank.

Suzanne Barret rushed around the Crown Street store in the Gorbals during a five-minute trolley dash.

As well as taking home goodies worth £125 for herself, Suzanne successfully found a hidden inflatable, meaning the supermarket doubled the total value of her haul and donated the lump sum to her nominated charity, Glasgow South East Foodbank.

Glasgow Times:

Suzanne said: “I had such a fun experience at Aldi’s Supermarket Sweep and the staff on the night were excellent. I am so pleased that I was able to help my local foodbank as well.”

Glasgow Times:

Audrey Flannagan, manager at Glasgow South East Foodbank, added: “I would like to say a big thank you to the sweeper, to the staff in store who were all brilliant, and to Aldi for arranging the event.

“It’s good to know that even at a time when the cost-of-living is so high, people still think about those less fortunate. “The total amount raised will be able to feed four families for a week, which will really make a difference to those who need it most.”
