A jealous thug tried to gouge his partner’s eye out in front of a child.
Darryl Twigg, 29, turned on the woman at properties in Glasgow's Scotstoun and Knightswood between September and October 2021.
Twigg punched and kicked the victim and pressed his finger into her eye.
A terrified young girl in their care shouted: "Leave her alone."
On Friday, Twigg pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to engaging in a course of conduct which was the abuse of a partner or ex-partner.
The court heard the pair were in an on-off relationship for six years.
They were at a friend's house on September 13 when an argument broke out.
Twigg struck the woman on the back of her head with a key which caused her to bleed.
Later that month, Twigg punched her on the face leaving her with a bruised eye and cut lip.
Twigg was enraged days later after seeing a phone number on a sheet of paper in their home.
He then hit her on the back of the head from behind before the woman fled the scene.
A month later, Twigg kicked her bedroom door open and said: "Why are you not getting changed in front of me, are you showing someone else your a***?"
Prosecutor Emma Baker added: "Twigg grabbed her by the hair and pulled her down to the ground where he punched and kicked [the victim] to the head and body.
"He then pressed his finger in her right eye and she believed it was an attempt to gouge her eye.
"Through the incident, a [girl] in their care was heard shouting 'leave her alone'."
The woman suffered a lump and a scratch on her cheekbone under her eye.
A 999 call was made and Twigg was later traced and arrested.
Sentence was deferred pending background reports until the end of the month by Sheriff Iain Fleming, who continued Twigg's remand in custody meantime.
