Families can expect plenty of “smiles and squeals of delight” at a much-loved visitor attraction this summer.
Tollcross Children’s Farm, which is free to attend, has a wide variety of animals on show.
As well as pigs, chickens, horses, sheep and goats, there are also rabbits, peacocks and lovebirds.
However, it’s the alpacas that are the star of the show.
A spokesperson from Glasgow City Council, which runs the East End attraction, said: “Tollcross Children’s Farm is an absolute treat for anyone, young or older, who loves animals, and the fact that entry is free makes it all the more enjoyable.
“Children love looking at the different animals and there’s always plenty of smiles and squeals of delight as they run round the various enclosures.
“Baby animals are always a huge draw and, as well as the baby alpaca, there are lots of fluffy chicks at the moment.
“The animals all have their own individual characters from the very vocal peacock to the huge pigs named Flora and Fauna.”
The farm, which is located at the Wellshot Road entrance to Tollcross Park, was restored in the late 1990s with help from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Historic Scotland.
However, it is not just the animals that are worth seeing.
The council’s spokesperson added: “Take a minute to appreciate the life-size Highland Cow sculpture by international artist, Andy Scott, at the entrance and award your child extra points if they manage to spot the shy but stunning golden pheasant amongst the branches of its enclosure.
“Combined with a walk or kick-about in the surrounding Tollcross Park, it’s an enjoyable fun outing.”
The farm is open every day of the week, with its gates welcoming visitors from 10am until 3.30pm, Saturday to Thursday, and to 3pm on a Friday.
