Stephanie Wilks, community fundraiser at Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, said: “Thanks to the incredible support we received from the readers, we were able to fund more than 150 hours of vital support to help people living with chest, heart and stroke conditions across Glasgow live their lives to the full.
“Returning home from hospital can be a frightening and isolating time but this amazing donation helped make sure we could be there for people and their families as they adjust to their ‘new normal'.
“It has been an incredibly difficult couple of years for charities and initiatives like Cash for Charities are really helping to make a huge difference to the lives of people in our communities.”
Jennifer Blair, Maggie’s Centre fundraiser, said: “We were absolutely delighted to receive an incredible £4000 grant from the Cash for Charities Campaign and we can’t thank the readers of the Glasgow Times and The Herald enough.
"Their generosity has helped us continue to offer free, practical and emotional support to people with cancer in Glasgow and across the west of Scotland through these incredibly challenging times.
“Specifically, the grant has helped fund our Where Now? course which supports people with a cancer diagnosis after their treatment has finished.
"The course provides attendees with skills and techniques to support them through this transition period and beyond. The Cash for Charities funding has helped us reach more people this year to offer this much needed support.”
Beloved Rabbits in Kirkintilloch provide rehoming, welfare and foster care services, working closely with local vets to raise awareness of the issues affecting these popular but misunderstood pets.
Co-founder David Bell said: “Beloved Rabbits are delighted to have been part of Cash for Charities, and to benefit from the opportunity to raise more awareness for rabbit welfare issues throughout Scotland.
“The money we received allowed us to pay the vet bills associated with neutering nine rabbits as part of preparation for finding them a new forever home.”
