DESPITE valiant community efforts to save it, a Southside landmark has now been demolished as part of railway works.
Network Rail staff began the take down of Susie's Store in Strathbungo on Friday night at midnight.
Works are ongoing until the early hours of Monday as the former local shop is removed before the adjacent foot bridge is also taken away.
Our photographer captured these final pictures of Susie's Store late on Friday evening before 54 hours of work began.
It forms part of the Barrhead to Glasgow electrification project, in turn part of a bid to decarbonise passenger services on Scotland’s railway by 2035.

Next week the bridge on Nithsdale Road will be removed over the weekend of August 13 to 15.
Locals near to the site saw a large crane and lorries park up earlier in the week with round-the-clock work beginning on Friday.
As the Glasgow Times has previously told, the bridge is being raised to make way for overhead power lines running beneath.
Pedestrians can use a nearby footbridge between Moray Place and Darnley Road, with temporary ramps fitted to allow access.

A petition had been set up to preserve the vacant Susie's Store, which was opened in 1968 and was a popular local shopping spot for Strathbungo and Pollokshields.
Husband and wife Joe and Gurmet Deo ran it for 35 years before closing in 2019 and the shop had lain empty since.
Locals, including Green councillor Jon Molyneaux, hoped to save the store as a local landmark but Network Rail was not convinced.
Works at the site began in March and will run until May 28, 2023.
The installation of bridge deck beams will be August 13 to 15 while a new bridge deck will be under construction from August 16 to October 25.
Diversions will be in place on to New Road Bridge from October 26 to January 10, 2023.
It is planned that Nithsdale Road Bridge will be complete on January 20, 2023.
The footbridge will be replaced between January 23 to May 23.
Darnley Road lane will be closed and the footpath closed from March 28, 2022 to May 10, 2023.
Moray Place Lane will be closed with emergency service and pedestrian access only.
