Glasgow mum receives cruel prank call over beloved missing cat

Lisa Dumbiotis was disgusted after yobs called to say they put her beloved pet “in the bin” after it vanished from her home in Shawlands.

They obtained her number from missing posters that she hung around the area in a desperate bid to bring her cat, Hera, home.

Lisa is recovering from brain surgery

We previously reported how the 38-year-old underwent brain surgery at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to have a 10cm tumour removed last year.

Her optician had raised the alarm to the four-inch mass after Lisa complained about suffering from migraines.

She is now recovering at home but is struggling with mobility and memory loss issues, so is gutted to have lost her cat as it comforted her.

Hera went missing after a dog lunged at their home patio, scaring the poor cat which hasn’t been seen since disappearing on Monday, July 4.

Lisa is a big animal lover

Lisa told the Glasgow Times: “There are some sick people in the world.

“I don't usually answer numbers I don't know but I have to because someone might know something about Hera.

“They sounded like wee horrors. They must have taken my number from the missing posters, it really isn’t nice.

“It’s been absolutely horrible.

“He said they found my cat and put her in the bin. I just hung up, I was so upset.

“I’m recovering from brain surgery which means I have issues with my mobility and memory, but I am still out every night looking for Hera so nasty calls are horrible.”

Hera is a one-year-old part-Bengal cat with tiger stripes, a large fluffy tail, and has brown and orange patchwork patterns.

She is one of five cats that Lisa owns and is deeply missed by her family, who have been searching Shawlands to bring her home.

The pet has been missing for more than a month but Lisa refuses to give up hope as friends and family have rallied round to help find Hera.

She has received several possible sightings including on Riverside Road, but sadly Hera hasn’t been tracked down officially yet.

The family are begging the community to keep an eye out in the hopes she is discovered and rescued.

Lisa added: “My son heard a disturbance and saw the cat on our patio before a dog jumped onto our patio smashing our ornaments and scaring Hera.

“She must have got a fright and ran off losing her scent track. There was no fur or blood left behind, so I am hoping she got away okay.

“Hera is only wee and her people miss her lots.

“I have had a few phone calls, I have been on a wild goose chase trying to find her.

“I feel like a crazy cat lady wandering Shawlands with my tin of Dreamies that all my cats know the sound of.”
