A DRUG dealer was caught selling cocaine to someone in the street by undercover cops.

Cops were driving an unmarked vehicle in Wyndford when they noticed a woman standing on the pavement at 11pm on May 12 last year.

As they drove past, she walked towards the car, giving the officers the impression that she was waiting on someone.

The cops drove on and stopped their vehicle a short distance away.

A white Volkswagen Polo being driven by Jason Hannin, 27, then drove up.

Last week, Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that an “exchange” took place between Hannin and the woman.

Officers exited their vehicle, approached the Polo, and identified themselves.

The prosecutor said: “The accused was detained for a search. Upon speaking with the female, she provided police with a bag containing white powder, which was 0.5 grams.

“A search was carried out of the car. The accused was conveyed to Clydebank police office and processed.

“£190 of cash was recovered as well as a bag containing seven bags of white powder, weighing a total of 2.9g

“The drugs tested positive for cocaine. The accused was cautioned and charged and made no reply.”

Hannin was charged with being concerned in the supply of the class A drug.

The prosecutor told the court that the drugs had a value of between £100-£250.

Hannin’s lawyer said: “There is a positive social work report which details his position in becoming involved in this offence.

“He’s presently not working. He’s on crutches after having an operation but he will be in a position to work if a further operation is successful.

“He would be fit for unpaid work, albeit later on.

“It’s a serious matter, he fully accepts that.”

Sheriff Charles Lugton told Hannin: “I’m prepared to deal with this on a non-custodial basis, as a direct alternative to custody.”

Hannin, of Knightswood, was ordered to stay within his home between 7pm-7am for 75 days.
