FIVE children have been taken to hospital after an incident in Royston at rush hour tonight.
Police have now confirmed the number of youths who were allegedly struck by a vehicle on Provanmill Road.
A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and officers said they are continuing their inquiries.
Multiple ambulance crews were at the scene of the incident after calls were made to emergency services at 5.40pm tonight.
The young people involved have been taken to the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow, for treatment.
Their condition and ages are currently unknown.

The road was closed to all traffic but has since re-opened.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 5.40pm on Monday, August 22, police were called to a report of five youths struck by a car on Provanmill Road, Glasgow.
"Officers attended and the five youths were taken to the Royal Hospital for Children.
"A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident and enquiries are continuing."
