The scale of the redevelopment of Motherwell train station has been revealed as work progresses on the massive project.
The project to create a brighter and more modern station with a glazed roof and enhanced courtyard is now entering the fifth phase of redevelopment.
Over the next few weeks work will continue on the foundations for the expanded courtyard and the steel structure that makes up the bones of the new station will continue to be erected.
Work is also being carried out by North Lanarkshire council to improve the public space outside the station building to create a new transport hub with support from the Glasgow City Region City Deal.

Once complete, the Motherwell hub will improve links between bus and train services in a bid to reduce congestion in the town centre.
The £14.5m project will have a host of other benefits for people including improved ticket offices, a selection of food and drink venues, and an upgraded waiting room.
John MacDonald, senior project manager at Scotrail, said: “We’re now at a really exciting stage of this project, where customers can see the scale of the work we’re undertaking to create a bigger, brighter station.
“We’re progressing the installation of the steel frame and glazed roof across the concourse which will give customers more of a feel for how the new station building will look.
“Motherwell is ready for a railway station that matches the town’s dynamic and forward-looking perspective.
“I’m confident that these improvements will create a welcoming station for customers, and that’s key to making rail more attractive option as we look to encourage more people back to the railway.”
