A BUSY stretch of road in Renfrewshire will be affected by junction closures for around three months, starting from next week.
Work to improve the gas network in Barochan Road, between Linwood and Crosslee, means a number of diversion routes are to be put in place.
Barochan Road will be closed at its junction with Sandholes Road, to approximately 50 metres south of Magnus Road, from Tuesday, September 20.
During this time, a signed diversion route will be in place for motorists via Fulton Drive and Magnus Road.
From Monday, October 10, a section of Barochan Road will be closed around 50 metres south of its junction with Magnus Road, to 20 metres south of the River Inn car park entrance.
During this time, the diversion route will be from Deafhillock Roundabout to the A761 Bridge of Weir Road and on to the B790 Houston Road.
As part of the final phase of works, the section of Barrochan Road between Deafhillock roundabout, to around 50 metres south of Magnus Road, will be closed.
This will take place from Monday, October 31, with these works expected to take approximately six weeks.
During this time, the diversion route will be from Deafhillock roundabout to the A761 Bridge of Weir Road and on to the B790 Houston Road.
The £211,000 project to upgrade the local gas network is being carried out by gas company SGN.
Pedestrian access to homes and businesses will be maintained throughout the project.
Disruption to bus services is possible, with commuters being advised to check with their bus operator.
A spokesperson for SGN said: “Our engineers will be working extended hours, including on weekends, to complete our project as quickly and safely as possible.
“We’re committed to upgrading our network to ensure we continue to keep homes and businesses safe and warm long into the future.”
