A thug repeatedly pointed a gun at a new mum and burned the letters RIP on her wall.

Liam Baldie, 29, turned on his 23-year-old partner at various locations in Glasgow between January 2021 and 2022.

Baldie initially brandished the air weapon at her on the month she gave birth to her daughter.

He went on to emblazon RIP onto the wall of her common close.

Baldie brought out the handgun again two months later before holding it to her head stating: "I'll do it."

Baldie pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to engaging in a course of conduct which was abuse of a partner or ex-partner.

He also admitted possession of cannabis and having an air weapon without holding a certificate.

The court heard that the pair had been in an on-off relationship for nine years.

The victim gave birth at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in early August 2021.

Baldie argued with the woman shortly after the birth where he hurled names and raised his hand as if to strike her.

Later that month, Baldie continued his tirade of abuse.

He visited her home in the city's Barmulloch after barging into the property.

Prosecutor Hannah Terrance said: "She was telling him to leave the house during this time, at which point he pulled out a black handgun that had been concealed somewhere in his clothing.

"He then began pointing the handgun at her and threatening to shoot her with it.

"[The victim] informed him that she was going to phone the police at which time Baldie ran out of the house."

Baldie tried to keep tabs on the woman and would ask who was with her or where she had been.

He went on to place a piece of wood with the word "s***" burned into it, at her door.

Ms Terrance added: "[The victim] also observed the letters RIP burned into a wall in the close where she resides and believes that this was Baldie."

He later argued with the woman as she attempted to move into her home with help from her dad as children looked on.

The brute threatened to "pop one" in his head.

The hearing was told of an occasion in January 2022 when Baldie entered the woman’s property.

He got angry during the visit and called her names.

Ms Terrance added: "Baldie was wearing a jumper with a large pocket on the front.

"He then reached into this and pulled out a large silver handgun.

"[The victim] had never seen this gun before and described it as being the same shape as the black one he produced before, but larger and chunkier.

"He then pointed it right at the complainer's head, holding it against the side of her head where her temple is.

"She froze and did not know what to do at which time the accused stated ‘I'll do it’.

"[The victim] took that to mean that he would shoot her in the head."

The terrified victim threatened to call the police and Baldie put the gun away before fleeing the scene.

He was traced to his home which was searched.

Officers recovered a Russian manufactured Izhmash carbon dioxide powered rifle which fired BB bullets from under his bed.

A total of £1620 of cannabis was also found in the property.

Baldie was arrested and when quizzed he stated to officers: "She's doing this because she wants me to rot and have nothing."

Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Matthew Jackson KC who continued Baldie's remand in custody meantime.
