A GLASGOW schoolgirl says she is “honoured” to appear in a book all about Britain’s most inspirational people, written by Tipping Point host Ben Shephard.
Heather Bryson is one of 25 men, women and children included in Humble Heroes, which started as a social media campaign on Ben’s Instagram page.
Heather, who won a Glasgow Community Champion Award last year, made exercise videos for people in care homes during lockdown and sold recycled crafts to raise money for dementia charities.
The 10-year-old, from Robroyston, met the TV presenter when she won a prestigious Good Morning Britain award.
He said: “Heather is extraordinary, not just for what she has done at such a young age, but for the joy and enthusiasm with which she does it.
“Her motto is ‘thumbs up and smile’, and you can see that smile has been reflected back at her from so many people.”

The book, from Bonnier publishing company, includes stories of “ordinary people who are doing remarkable things to try and make the world a better place.”
Ben said: “Humble Heroes, which started off online, has exploded into this remarkable book, full of stories of remarkable people. It’s about real people, real stories, real heroes. You might not know their faces, you might not yet know their names. But once you’ve met them, you’ll never forget them.
“I am thrilled to be working with Susannah and the energetic and enthusiastic team at Bonnier in this, my first book, to introduce you to these incredible people.”
Susannah Otter, from Bonnier, said: “There are many reasons not to be cheerful in this world, so thank goodness for Ben and this book, a concentrated shot of optimism which will show people up and down the land that doing something, however small, can always make a difference.”
Heather said: “I am really honoured to appear in Ben’s book. It’s really exciting.”
After her Glasgow Community Champions win, Heather was named one of 10 community heroes by funeral directors Anderson Maguire in their annual awards, and ITV’s Good Morning Britain presented her with the One Million Minutes Young Champion category prize, announced live on the show by celebrity fitness coach Joe Wicks.
To top off a spectacular year, Heather was presented with a Point of Light award by Number 10 Downing Street, an initiative which recognises outstanding individuals making a change in their community, and got to meet the Prime Minister twice.
