The move is part of an ongoing Active Travel Management Plan that seeks to improve access, promote walking, cycling, and the use of public transport, and change the car routes within the park.

Glasgow City Council has put the barriers in place to stop people from driving through the park unnecessarily.

In a statement posted on social media, Glasgow City Council wrote: “From Monday, October 3, vehicle barriers will be operational at Pollok Country Park.

“Pedestrians and cyclists will be prioritised on Pollok Avenue, with vehicular barriers being operated to prevent unnecessary journeys by car through the park.”
