A driver who was caught speeding has been fined in court.
Barry Mallon, 39, was driving on the M74, near Polmadie, when cops spotted him on the night of January 22 last year.
At Glasgow Sheriff Court last week, the prosecutor said: “At 9.40pm, officers were on patrol in a marked police vehicle.
“It was freezing conditions, with warnings for snow and ice displayed on the overhead gantries of the motorway.
“Their attention was drawn to a white Audi travelling in the fast lane. Officers noted it was exceeding the speed limit which at that point was 60mph.
"Officers pursued the vehicle. They were able to get into position to pace the vehicle using their speed device.
“The vehicle was found to be travelling at not less than 88mph. The speed limit had reduced to 50mph.”
Cops signalled for the car to stop, which it did.
They approached it and cautioned and charged Mallon, of Kilmarnock.
He was then allowed to be on his way.

Sheriff Mark McGuire asked Mallon’s defence solicitor if his client was employed.
She replied: “He had his own business but it’s not picked up again after Covid. He could pay a fine. He is supported by his partner.”
Sheriff McGuire revealed Mallon had a previous conviction for speeding.
He fined him £670 and handed him five points on his licence.
The sheriff said: “Take your foot off the gas and pay attention to the speed limit.”
