A NURSERY in Glasgow has scored "very good" in all areas following a recent inspection. 

In September 2022, a team of inspectors from Education Scotland visited Dennistoun Early Years Centre, Roselea Drive.

In a report published today, it has been revealed that the Glasgow City Council facility has been praised.

Key strengths included: 

  • The very good leadership of the head of centre and depute, who have led a strong team of practitioners very well during challenging times whilst continuing to sustain high-quality early learning and childcare.
  • Highly effective practitioners who provide rich learning experiences both indoors and outdoors to promote and support children’s thinking, curiosity and enquiry.
  • Strong relationships and partnerships across the setting and beyond which make a significant difference to the wellbeing and outcomes for children and families.
  • The very good progress children are making in their development and learning, particularly in early communication, language and early numeracy.

Meanwhile, the following areas for improvement were identified and discussed:

  • Continue to extend leadership at all levels to enhance shared ownership of the centre’s improvement plan and future developments.
  • Progress the relevant priorities identified in the centre’s improvement plan

Inspectors revealed that they were confident that the nursery has the capacity to continue to improve and therefore will make no more visits in connection with this inspection.
