A thug spat at a vulnerable woman following an argument.

Claire McGregor, 45, turned on her victim at a women's institute in Glasgow's Queen's Park on December 16, 2021.

The city's sheriff court heard that the institute houses "vulnerable women" and both were staying there.

Prosecutor Christopher McKnight said: "Around 2.30pm there was a brief argument between the pair.

"At the conclusion, McGregor spat over railings towards [the complainer] with it landing on her body."

The incident was caught on CCTV and McGregor was later arrested.

She pleaded guilty this week to the assault at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

Darren Fleming, defending, told the court that McGregor has since moved into the city centre.

Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Iain Fleming.

McGregor had her bail continued meantime.
