A GLASGOW football ultras group has responded to "rumours" about money.

Ultras St Roch's took to Twitter to release a statement this week.

They wrote: "To address rumours going around about Ultras St Roch's, no money we have ever had has been in any way stolen from the club fundraisers or any charities.

"All money used for anything group related has been from group members or donations from fans via social media.

"The club and multiple fans had given the group money during our food bank collection on October 22.

"All money raised that day went towards setting up a toy drive which we aimed to take place sometime this month.

"Unfortunately, we were unaware that St Roch's had already planned for one to go ahead that we still plan on donating toys for families less fortunate."

A two-minute video posted to YouTube on October 22 shows members of the ultras group filling a van with dozens of carrier bags full of food.

We previously reported that St Roch's Juniors Football Club, which competes in the West of Scotland League, banned the group from their ground at James McGrory Park.

In a statement posted to their Twitter and Facebook accounts last week, bosses wrote: "St Rochs would like to announce that we have no affiliation with the ultras group that have been to recent games.

"We do not endorse any fundraising they do and encourage fans not to donate as the club receives nothing from this.

"The members of the ultras group will also no longer be welcome at James McGrory Park."

An explanation for the ban was not given by the club.

However, the following day, an update was provided.

It read: "Following communication between fans and the committee of St Roch's, we would like to update the statement and confirm that not all members of the USR will be banned.

"Talks will continue with the club and some members of the USR to establish what, if any further action is needed."

The football club revealed plans for their food and toy drive earlier this month.

They are looking for donations of tinned food, sugar, tea, pasta, rice, toiletries, washing powder, and new toys.

Items will be distributed to Royston Community Pantry, Carntyne ad Riddrie Non-Referral Foodbank, local schools, nurseries, and housing groups.
