It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas - especially when you are sat on the rank at George Square, waiting in a queue for your next hire and all you can hear is Mariah bl**dy Carey!
Don’t worry though, you won’t hear any bah humbugs from me, it’s fantastic to see the lights up, the ice skaters down (sometimes) and all the music, fun, food and drink.
After a run of false start festive seasons due to a prolonged dose of the old you-know-what, Glasgow’s Christmas is back with a bang.
The impact of the cost-of-living crisis seems to be balanced by a determination by so many of you to just enjoy the moment, spending time with family and friends.
As always, it’s a busy time for the trade and there will be certain times of day and specific days in December where we will be stretched to the limit but that’s nothing new for 2022, it’s standard at this time of year in most UK cities.
So, what’s the best advice to offer readers ahead of party season?
I’ll hand over now to the words of Glasgow Taxis as written in this year’s Glasgow Loves Christmas guide:
Christmas in Glasgow is back with a bang this year and Glasgow Taxis is with you all the way wherever you want to go ho ho!
From the return of the big Christmas lights switch-on in George Square, the Blessing of the Crib and Baby’s First Christmas, to flagship events the Santa Dash and Elfingrove, it’s impossible not to feel the festive spirit in Scotland’s greatest city during the countdown to December 25.
Glasgow Taxis will have its full fleet serving the city around-the-clock this winter, and our card-compliant cabs will be crammed full of the Christmas cheer following two heavily interrupted winters due to Covid.
Whether it’s giving you a lift to your party night, helping you home with your shopping, or transporting you to and from a trip to the pantomime, we’re behind you (oh yes we are).
Our advice this Christmas remains consistent and clear:
- Download the new Glasgow Taxis app for the latest information and best pricing.
- Use our marshalled Nite Zones (Gordon Street, Sauchiehall Street, Albion Street, Byres Road) at peak times for the safest experience.
- Plan ahead and travel in numbers when you can.
- Enjoy yourselves and stay safe.
Glasgow Taxis wish all Glaswegians and visitors to the city, a very happy Christmas.
Couldn’t have put it better myself, have a delightful December and cracking Christmas one and all.
Stay safe!
