GLASGOW comedian Janey Godley has announced that her next tour of live shows will be her last.
The author and comic said in a video that her treatment for ovarian cancer was “back on the cards” – after she was given the all-clear in June.

Godley said that she was “determined” to go ahead with her tour – which is scheduled to kick off in Arbroath in February 2023 before closing in London in March – but cautioned that it would probably be her final one.
Godley said: “I don’t want to just fade away. I want to go out with a bang.”

In a video posted to Twitter, the comic said: “The cancer treatment is back on the cards because my recent scan and my blood tests show that my cancer marker went up and there’s still a bit of evidence of disease in my abdomen. So I want you all to know that I’m going to be going through some more chemotherapy.
“I also want you to know that I’m going ahead with the tour in February and March. I am determined to get back on stage.”
The comic said she had “always been a kind of ‘die on your feet not your knees’ type of person”, but added that it would be “fair and honest to say it might be the last time you’ll see me live on stage”.
“I’m hoping it’s not, but I think it’s a fair estimation that that will be what we’re looking at,” Godley said.

In a later tweet, she appeared to offer firmer confirmation, writing: “This will be my last tour, thanks to everyone sending love and support. http://janeygodley.com for tickets thanks again.”
Godley was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer, which she said is “not curable, just treatable, and we’re treating it”.
Before she announced she had been given the all-clear in late June, the comic had to undergo a hysterectomy and six rounds of chemotherapy.
Praise for the comic poured in after the announcement.
Fellow comic Richard Herring wrote: "Janey is the best. Horrible news but met head on. Go and see her live. You won’t regret it. Much love Janey."
