Janey Godley “can't wait to get back on stage” as she prepares for her comedy tour next year.
The brave 61-year-old is planning for possibly her last ever tour as she wants to “go out with a bang” as she battles ovarian cancer.
It comes as she announced treatment was “back on the cards” after she was given the all-clear in June.
Now she has taken to Twitter to update fans that she was getting more tests today [Thursday, December 29] and will begin chemotherapy after New Year.
She plans to focus on the UK tour which is scheduled to kick off in Arbroath in February 2023 before closing in London in March.
The Glasgow comic is determined to stay positive to avoid “just fading away”.
She told followers: “Up early for blood tests! Can't wait to get back onstage in February.
“Thanks to everyone sending me love and support - back to doctors and back to chemotherapy after New Year and back onstage.”
Fans were quick to send their messages of support on social media and admire her positive attitude.
One person said: “Janey I lost my wife to breast cancer. She was only 34-years old and mother to triplet boys. To see your recovery and positive vibes makes me smile every time I see you.”
A second person said: “My son got me tickets for your show in February for Xmas. Can’t wait.”
A third person said: “Loving your positive attitude. That’s what got me through my C wishing you all the best.”
A fourth person said: “Hope it goes well! We can't wait to see you in February.”
We previously reported how Janey told the Glasgow Times how she felt ‘guilty’ that she brought cancer into her family's life after it took her to a ‘really dark place’.
The funny woman opened up about her illness in an effort to raise awareness of the disease which has been branded a ‘silent killer’.
An astounding 90% of women don't know the four main symptoms of ovarian cancer, according to Ovarian Cancer Action.
This includes persistent stomach pain, persistent bloating, difficulty eating, feeling full more quickly, and needing to pee more frequently.
These were the symptoms Janey noticed but put them to the back of her mind as she went on tour.
It wasn’t until she spotted a Tweet from TV presenter Julia Bradbury, highlighting the symptoms of ovarian cancer, that it ‘came together’ and she went to the GP.
Now she hopes to be the same warning sign for other women by being extremely open and candid about her own experience.
