A THUG who stabbed a stranger in the chest at a train station has been jailed.
Dominic Douglas, 33, was sentenced to five years behind bars following the incident at Hamilton Central Station.
On March 13, 2021, Douglas stabbed the victim in the chest and abdomen a short time after he got off the train with his partner.
He suffered serious injuries, which required life-saving surgery.

After the attack, Douglas, of Hamilton, fled the scene and was caught by British Transport Police (BTP) officers following an extensive investigation.
He was sentenced at Livingston High Court today, after previously pleading guilty to assault to severe injury, permanent disfigurement and danger to life.
Marc Francey, Detective Chief Inspector said: “This was a brutal attack. The two men had never spoken, never met, and had never crossed paths until that day.
“Clearly this was a terrifying situation for the victim and his partner. This attack and the injuries he suffered continue to have a substantial impact on his life.
“I would like to thank the members of the public who assisted us with our inquiries and the officers who carried out a diligent and painstaking investigation, which meant that we were able to quickly identify and detain Douglas.
“He is evidently a danger to the public and the judge saw fit to ensure he faces the consequences equal to the severity of this attack.”
