GLASGOW charities have benefitted from a £170,000 cash boost.

Glasgow Credit Union has donated more than £10,000 to 33 Glasgow charities and causes since October 2022, benefiting 4,000 children and young people across the city as well as organisations helping tackling issues such as food poverty, addiction, and homelessness.

It has also confirmed it has earmarked £30,000 for donation throughout 2023.

In addition to its own charitable work, the member-driven organisation has praised big-hearted members who, for the last two years, chose to donate over £5,800 of their dividends to charity.

In 2021, over £3,800 was generated for the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, helping them to provide emergency support to families. This year, the Beatson Cancer Charity has benefited to the tune of £2,036, aiding its life-saving work.

Over the last four months, Glasgow Credit Union has supported a variety of organisations through its Giving Glasgow programme.

Some of the causes which have received help include Westercraigs Nursery, Drumchapel Asian Forum, MENSELF+, North East Recovery Community, and Venture Trust, which works to make a positive life possible for some of Scotland’s most vulnerable people.
