A MAN tried to headbutt a cop after being arrested.
Mark Heggie was in London Road police office when he became verbally aggressive towards officers on January 7, 2023.
The 37-year-old was shouting “shut the f**k up”.
After being asked to desist on several occasions, he refused to do so.
Instead, Heggie stood up and tried to headbutt an officer.
On Tuesday, Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that there was no contact made.
Heggie appeared in the dock to be sentenced after previously admitting to the attempted assault and behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.
The court heard that Heggie had been arrested due to an "unrelated matter".
His lawyer said: “His behaviour arose from the fact he had been arrested. He couldn’t understand why he had been arrested. He had also been drinking.

“He pleaded guilty at the first opportunity. He does have a record for similar types of offending, and I can’t dispute that.
“He’s completed two unpaid work orders and a restriction of liberty order in the past two years.”
Sheriff Diana McConnell asked if Heggie was able to carry out unpaid work due to health issues.
His lawyer replied: “He completed 90 hours and 120 hours previously and he tells me it was physical labour work.”
Sheriff McConnell said: “I’m satisfied I can deal with this matter by way of an alternative to a custodial sentence.”
Heggie, of Drygate, was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and be under social work supervision for one year.
