THOUSANDS of homes have been warned of potential disruption to their water supply.

Around 4500 properties in Govan, Moorpark, Shieldhall and Linthouse have been advised of essential water works taking place tonight from 11pm.

Residents will still be able to access their supply, but water may appear cloudy, discoloured or contain sediment.

Scottish Water has advised running the tap slowly until the water runs clear to avoid any blockage or damage to appliances.

If water appears to be white, engineers say this is due to the presence of air in the liquid and will settle within 48 hours of work being complete.

It said: “We understand the importance of providing a water supply to our customers, and again we apologise in advance should you experience any disruption.”

Work will continue overnight and is expected to conclude in the early hours of tomorrow morning.

Teams will be undertaking essential maintenance on a strategic water main to upgrade parts of the Scottish Water network at Edmiston Drive.
