WARNINGS have been issued after a spate of complaints of attempted break-ins.

Residents across Drumchapel have reported issues with doors being "tried" in the Southdeen area over the weekend.

The culprits are understood to be using safety pins in an effort to break locks free to enter properties.

It comes after further reports emerged earlier this month of similar incidents throughout Ladyloan Avenue and Kilcloy Avenue.

Officers responded to calls of sheds and backdoors being attempted by a man in dark clothing.

No one was traced – however, Police Scotland has urged neighbours to remain vigilant.

Residents have described the individual as the "lowest of the low".

Families have taken to social media to warn others to keep their doors locked and contact police immediately about any suspicious behaviour.

Councillors described the reports as "worrying".

Councillor Paul Carey said: "It's sickening to see people trying the doors of homes around Southdeen.

"I've seen too many reports of this on social media and I would urge anyone who experiences this to contact police immediately.

"The community will look out for one another and we won't tolerate this behaviour."
