A THUG choked and smothered his girlfriend after a night out.
Zubar Abdullah, 28, pounced on the woman at her home in Woodlands on August 21, 2021.
Abdullah pushed her onto a bed with a knife before placing his arms around her neck.
He then put his hand over her mouth before covering her face with a pillow.
Abdullah pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting the woman to her injury and danger to her life.

The court heard that the pair were in a relationship for a year.
The pair had been out with the victim's friend before the couple returned to her flat.
Abdullah - while possessing a knife - pushed her onto a bed around 4.35am.
He then demanded that she call 999 before dialling the police himself.
Prosecutor Lauren Sangray said: "He placed his hand around her throat and compressed.
"The victim began to cough and could not breathe, this lasted for five seconds before he let go."
Abdullah made threats to cut her and himself as well as his own fingers off.
Abdullah then put his hand over the woman's mouth to stop her crying.
Miss Sangray added: "He then took a pillow from the bed and placed it over her face.
"She could not breathe and started coughing.
"Abdullah released her face from the pillow lasting five seconds."
As the victim lay crying on the bed Abdullah "encouraged her to stop."
He went on to cut the underwear she was wearing with the knife.
Abdullah then put the blade on her leg before leaving the bedroom.
The victim took the opportunity to flee the property and took refuge in a nearby Sainsbury's petrol station.

She was seen to be barefoot, in a distressed state and crying.
Abdullah left the property looking for her saying to police officers: "Are you looking for me? I'm looking for my girlfriend, she ran out the house, we had an argument."
The property was later found to be in a state of disarray and Abdullah was arrested.
Haroun Malik, defending, will make his plea in mitigation at next month's sentencing.
Abdullah, of Queen's Park, was granted bail meantime by Sherrif Gerard Considine.
