Scots across the country have four bank holidays to look forward to in the coming months as the Coronation of King Charles III comes closer.

These bank holidays will be a well-earned rest from the hectic schedules and heavy workloads.

The first bank holiday is expected to take place in April while the other three will occur in May.

In April, Glasgow's residents can look towards a long weekend with Good Friday on April 7.

In May, the first bank holiday will be May Day on May 1, a day set aside to honour Workers' Day or International Workers' Day.

The King's Coronation will also provide a bank holiday for people across the country.

Charles' Coronation will take place on Saturday, May 6 with the bank holiday taking place the following Monday on May 8.

What will happen during King Charles's Coronation in May

The Coronation weekend will see a number of events with Saturday being the day Charles is officially crowned King after the passing of the late Queen.

Camilla will also be crowned Queen-Consort with a host of musicians and stars expected to appear at Windsor Castle for the Coronation concert which will be broadcast live on the BBC.

Bars, pubs and clubs are expected to be able to serve customers longer with such venues being open an extra two hours between Friday, May 5 and Sunday, May 7.
