A GLASGOW support worker provided false references written by himself to help get him a job.
Olutoye Adedeji has been handed a warning by the social services watchdog following the discovery.
Around January 28 last year, Adedeji provided a fake reference to The Action Group purporting to be from La'Gente Medical Trust.
And around February 16, he provided a second forged reference purporting to be from BioVantage Home.
It was also found that Adedeji offered to provide false references to two others who were also applying to the Action Group for employment.
This is believed to have taken place between January and May 2022.
Following an investigation, the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) said: “Your behaviour led your employer to believe you were more experienced than you were, and you therefore may have been trusted to carry out work that you were not sufficiently experienced to do.
“This placed users of services at risk of physical and emotional harm. Your behaviour is dishonest and breaches the trust that is placed in you by your employer, users of services and the general public.”
A statement went on to say: “Dishonesty gives rise to concerns about your personal and professional values. However, it does not appear that any user of services was harmed as a result of your behaviour.

“You indicated that you only behaved the way you did because your previous employer let you down by failing to provide a reference for you and you were desperate to obtain employment.
“It appears that your behaviour arose as a result of bad decision-making and a lapse of judgement rather than an intention to cause harm.”
It was revealed that Adedeji was honest about his actions when confronted by his employer.
He has also shown remorse and regret and cooperated fully with the investigation.
A warning has been placed on his registration for one year.
