Former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard will join Channel 4 for its coverage of England’s EURO 2024 qualifying matches.
The Liverpool legend will join Jill Scott and Joe Cole and the trio will now be a permanent fixture of Channel 4’s presentation team for its live and exclusive coverage of all eight of England’s EURO qualifiers throughout 2023.
Former England captain Gerrard will team up with Scott and Cole for England’s opening two matches against Italy on Thursday (23 March) and Ukraine on Sunday (26 March).
Jules Breach leads the presenting line up, Steve Bower will provide the commentary and Kelly Somers will be reporting from pitch side for both of the opening fixtures.
Channel 4’s Chief Content Officer Ian Katz said: “This will be England’s first match since the devastating defeat against France and they’ll face an Italy side with a point to prove having missed out on the World Cup.
“It’s a crucial opening match and I’m thrilled viewers will have the insight of Steven Gerrard, Jill Scott and Joe Cole who all know exactly the kind of pressure Harry Kane and the team will be under.”
The opening game against Italy kicks off at 7.45pm with coverage on Channel 4 starting at 7pm. England’s opening home EURO qualifier against Ukraine kicks off at 5pm with coverage on Channel 4 from 4pm.
Channel 4 has secured the rights to live coverage all of England’s UEFA 2024 EURO qualifying matches and two friendlies to be played this year. It also has the rights to four England matches in 2024 (EURO qualifiers or friendless depending qualification).
