Professor Green can’t wait to try real Glasgow food on his upcoming tour of the UK.

The Hip-Hop star is excited to find out what Glaswegians favourite “coffee and kebabs” are when he visits the city this month.

The 39-year-old celebrity, whose real name is Stephen Manderson, is performing at the SWG3 on Sunday, April 23.

Before the gig he spoke to The Glasgow Times about his previous experience playing in the city and what he is looking forward to about returning.

He said: “Glasgow is always a sick crowd for me, even beyond Glasgow Scotland is wonderful.

“The first time I played [in Scotland] was nearly 20 years ago and I didn’t realise getting beer thrown on you was a polite welcome.”

He joked: “With the cost-of-living crisis though I don’t know if people will be up for wasting beer like that on this tour.

He said: “I love food so much, so I am excited to try new things. I know about deep fried mars bars but that's sensationalised, I want to try real local food.

“I want to know what the people who actually live in Glasgow think is the best coffee and kebabs, recommendations are welcome.”

The multi-platinum rapper is excited to be back on his feet after suffering from ill health in recent years.

He sadly experienced a seizure at home in April 2022 and was left badly injured after landing on his face.

While recovering he also battled gut issues leaving him constantly vomiting, which resulted in several surgeries.

Now after tests and treatment he is finally “feeling great” again and can’t wait to use his new energy on the tour.

He said: “I had a rough last year, I was home alone and had a seizure and smashed my head 20 times.

“I was lucky to come out of it and claw my way back on top, it feels good.

“Becoming a dad and coming off paternity leave has also taught me a lot about myself, I feel more patient.

“Now I am just really looking forward to performing, being out on the road, and seeing everyone again.

“I just love music. It makes me so excited and really happy.”

Green plans to perform some of his older songs live for the very first time and suggested fans may see different setlists for each gig on the nationwide headline 2023 Tour.

The events will kick off this Spring on 22 April in Nottingham, before heading to Glasgow, Manchester, and Birmingham, and wrap up at the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire, London on 27 April.
