A NURSERY has received high praise from inspectors after a visit by the care watchdog.
Carousel Nurseries in Dumbarton received four “very good” ratings - the second highest available - for the quality of care and support provided to children, the quality of staffing, and the quality of management and leadership at the facility on Glasgow Road in the town.
Inspectors said that the interactions between the staff and the children were supportive and caring to maintain continuity of care between home and nursery.
The report also highlighted that the children's lunch setting was inviting as the tables were set with flowers, tablecloths and cutlery.
It stated: "Children were given some opportunities to develop their independence skills; serving themselves and clearing their dishes away.
"Children's opportunities to be fully involved in the whole lunchtime experience could be further developed, this could include setting tables."
Furthermore, imaginary play was deeply encouraged in the setting and children have regular outings in the community.
The inspectors said: "Children had regular outings to the local community, which included visiting parks, shops and the local bakery. To further enhance these opportunities staff should consider how these can be linked to learning experiences within the nursery."
The majority of parents and carers commented that the nursery had managed communication about their child’s learning progress.
One person said: "Pickup is never a rushed experience, we are given a thorough handover and ample opportunity to press for further information should we require it."
It was also said: "Regular weekly and monthly meetings allowed staff to share information about the health and well-being of children and families. This enabled them to adapt their practice to meet the changing needs of children and families."
