A CLYDEBANK restaurant has introduced a new service in an effort to create a "safe space" for people with additional needs.
Spring Garden in Duntocher announced the move on social media over the weekend.
The family-run eatery is set to open a room, previously used for private events, for families to book if they would like a quieter space to enjoy their meal.
Bosses at the Chinese restaurant said the space wasn't being used often and that they "want everyone to feel welcome".
One benefit of this space is that the main speaker in the restaurant is not connected to this room.
It is hoped that this will provide a "wee safe space" for families with little ones to have a nice meal away from the noise of the restaurant, which can sometimes be overwhelming.
A statement reads: "The boss and I were talking yesterday, we understand that some little ones have additional needs and this can sometimes make going out for something to eat a little more difficult for parents and little ones alike.
"We at Spring Garden are a family restaurant and we want everyone to feel welcome.
"We have a separate room which is used for little special events. It doesn't get used a lot, and so we thought this room would be an ideal space for a family who needs a quieter room.
"The main restaurant speaker isn't connected inside so there is no music piped through, it's quiet and peaceful.
"A wee safe space for a family to enjoy a nice meal with their kids, away from all the noise of the restaurant which can sometimes be too much for a child or adult with autism or other additional needs.
"We want everyone to feel welcome and safe and be able to enjoy a nice meal and be comfortable."
The announcement has been met with support from Bankies.
One person said: "Love, love, love this! As a parent of two kids with additional needs, this is amazing to hear.
"I really hope more places follow your lead. We literally never go out to eat because it's always too much and descends into chaos with sensory overload and meltdowns and then you get the dreaded 'look' from strangers that don't get it and make comments.
"Always been more hassle than it's worth. I'll be in touch soon to book in. This is really amazing.
"Thank you for remembering families like ours."
A second person added: "Love this! I haven't been but I shall make a point of coming as your quiet room would be a wee bit of heaven on the days when life is a bit harder for my son."
A third commented: "What a great idea. Never tried this restaurant before but I definitely will now."
