BBC confirms when River City will return after viewers 'gutted' by break (Image: Newsquest)
RIVER City fans who have been missing the show don't have long to wait.
We previously reported that the hit Glasgow-based soap took a break back in March to film more episodes.
Viewers were said to be 'gutted' that they would not be catching up with their favourite characters in Shieldinch on a Monday night.
But now the BBC has confirmed that the new series will be airing in early May.
A spokesperson said: "River City fans can expect the new series to return to screens on the BBC Scotland channel and BBC iPlayer early next month."
